How Toxicology Became an Academic Discipline

In this lecture SOT Past President John Doull, MD, PhD, FAACT, ATS, presents his unique perspective as a charter member of SOT who was instrumental in the maturation of the discipline and of the Society. He describes how toxicology became an academic discipline with the vision of key individuals, the formation of academic programs, development of a textbook, and creation of journals dedicated to the discipline.
